ESD Group Christmas Party9th December 2010
The ESD Christmas Party was held this evening at an Indian Restaurant in the centre of Southampton. Everyone seemed to have a very enjoyable evening, and the restauarant even had a magician touring the tables all night (see the photo)! This created some controversial discussions on how the tricks may have worked, and also a lot of confusion over what was happening (I think some people were beginning to believe in magic)!

After the meal, a group of us continued the celebrations afterwards in the Red Lion, a pub in Southampton that dates back to 1148AD!
Stuart's Internship on Energy Harvesting30th September 2011
This summer, one of our undergraduate electronic engineering students, Stuart Barrow, worked with me for three months on the pioneering EPSRC-funded project on "Next Generation Energy-Harvesting Electronics - A Holistic Approach". Stuart developed an ultra low-power system that analyses vibrations and transmits them wirelessly. The photo shows Stuart testing his system on a car engine - the hardware on the engine is detecting vibrations, processing them, and transmitting them wirelessly to a lap... [more]
Keynote Speech given at EnHaNSS 201211th June 2012
Today I gave the keynote speech at the International Workshop on Algorithms and Concepts for Networked Sensing Systems Powered by Energy Harvesters (EnHaNSS'12) workshop in Antwerp, Belgium. The workshop was organised as part of the Internationl Conference on Networked Sensing Systems (INSS 2012).
In the keynote, I talked about the holistic design of energy harvesting sensor nodes. Energy harvesting sensor nodes are gaining increasing potential and research interest, but they are inherently c... [more]
